hydrogen fuel cell question?

ok i want to make a device ( oven, micowave, mixer, small motor, etc) to work on hydrogen so i have a hydrogen generator which turns water into hydrogen and have a tube sticking out the pumps hydrogen
so know i need a fuel cell that i input hydrogen and it gives me power( that has a place where i can plug a device in) so what do you call this fuel cell that i input hydrogen and it gives me power where i can input a plug? what the name? dont just tell me fuel cell please, explain everything.

Well, it depends on exactly what you're making. If it's an oven, you can simply ignite the hydrogen to produce heat since hydrogen is combustible. If you want to generate electricity, you'll have to convert the chemical energy stored in hydrogen into electrical energy. This can be done several ways, e.g. use hydrogen to heat water to generate a turbine causing electricity. However, there will be some waste because the conversion will be inefficient. You can alternatively use the hydrogen to run an internal combustion engine attached to a dynamo and the conversion will be somewhat better. A hydrogen fuel cell uses the hydrogen gas to produce electricity by generating protons and electrons from hydrogen gas by use of a platinum catalyst and oxygen. This is called a proton exchange membrane fuel cell. It produces a weak voltage but the principle is sound.
