Can You combine two output channels from Stereo Receiver to increase the watts?
I have a stereo receiver that outputs 100watts per channel and I need to have 200 watts to power my speakers, can I just combine two of the outputs and use that to feed one speaker?
No you cannot do that. Although it does seem like combining two outputs together would achieve your goal all you will do is burn out your amplifier. The problem you face is that while the power will flow from the amp to the speaker the power will also flow from the output of one channel and try to flow backwards into the output of the other channel. So in essence, the two outputs will be fighting each other.
If your amp is 100 watts and your speaker maximum power is 200 watts then everything should be ok. However if you need your sound to be louder then you will need to buy a larger amplifier.
