How do I turn off the midi sound coming from my computer?

I'm on a dell using windows 2000. I don't have speakers connected but there's sound coming from the actually tower. I'm assuming it's midi (may be wrong) how do i disconnect it?

It is your PC speaker. You can open up the case and disconnect the speaker. This was most likely caused by some DOS based program - new programs use the Sound Card and speakers to create sounds. If you have an older DOS based program you use(d), run it again and see if there is a volume or sound control in the program - turn it off.
