How do you transfer music from external hard drive to itunes?
I got an external hard drive and then had to get my internal hard drive replaced. I put all the music onto itunes but now when i go to play them it wont let me unless the external hard drive it hooked up. How do i put all the music on fully and not have to have the external hard drive on?
If you just copy all the files from the external hard drive to the internal one, and then have it play from there then iTunes should recognize it. You'll have to delete the iTunes songs and then put them all back into iTunes from the internal one though. So basically here's what you'd have to do: 1) Delete all songs currently in the iTunes library (if you have special play lists you might want to write them down somewhere so you can put them back together later) 2) Copy all songs from external hard drive to internal ones (You can click on one file and then scroll all the way down to the bottom then hold shift while clicking the last one to highlight all of them. Then right click on it and select "Copy Files") 3) Go to "My Computer" and select a file that's located on your internal hard drive (When I did this I just made a new folder) 4) Right click and select "Paste Files/Copy Files" (This step might take a while, depending on how many files you have) 5) Open iTunes and minimize the screen with the folder (So iTunes takes up the entire screen and the folder is a small square) 6) After the files are done copying use the "Shift/Click" technique from step 2 and select all the files again 7) Drag the files into iTunes and wait for them to upload
If you have any questions feel free to email me
P.S. I have a PC so those are the options that came up on mine. If you have a Mac some of the wording of the options might be different, but you can figure out what option on a Mac would be the same as on a PC
