When using my Recording Software there's a click every half second thats disrupts the audio import any clue y?

So every time i use my Recording Studio software no matter if its session or sonar cakewalk 8, after i import my audio and play it there's a click every half second which disrupts the quality of the track... Does anyone have any idea why? Is there a glitch in my computers soundcard or is the latency too slow? I have no clue why it does this so any help would be great.

If you're importing digital files they might have been recorded at a different sampling frequency (44.1 vs. 48K). If you're recording analog, it sounds like you have a clocking error. Make sure that whatever software you're using is set to "internal sync". You'll definitely get clicks and pops if the software/hardware is looking for an external clock.
