Would it be ok to use a 2000 Watt Amplifier to power a 1200 watt reciever?
Do you think using a PylePro PPA200 19" Rack 2000 Watt Amp to power an Acoustic Audio 1200 Watt Speaker w/ 15" subwoofer a good idea?
Would I need anything else?
This is for Home Audio and DJ use. Thanks for your help!
Sure, pumping 2000 watts into a speaker that's only rated to take a max of 1200 watts is not problem. The pyrotechnic display will absolutely amaze and astound your audience. Not to mention the people paying you when they evacuate everyone out of the place.
Seriously, are you talking a single-channel amp? If it's a 2-channel or Stereo Amp, then it's rated for 1000 watts per channel or 2000 watts total. But if you try pumping all 2000 watts into a 1200 watt speaker, you won't hear anything noticeable except the silence coming from it. That's it. No bang. No flash. Just silence. Except for your crying over flushing a few hundred bucks down the toilet.

What is the difference on audio boards between a mic feed and a line feed?
I was just wondering the difference? When i was watching discovery i did not catch all of it.
Mic feeds are amplified more, plus can provide Phantom Power for microphones that need it.

how can i hook up an 18ga. Speaker Wire to a female Rca Adapter???
i have computer speakers that are capable of being hooked up to a home stereo, but my dilema is that the speakers have rca jacks, and the stereo only accepts regular speaker wire. does anyone know of a store that i can get this wire configuration from ( i checked Radio Shack and their site sux) or maybe i can make this wire if someone has done this before. all useful info will be gladly appreciated. thanks.
I guess that this isn't an impossible thing to accomplish but it should be answered whether or not your computer speakers are passive (very far and few between--mostly old and incapable of being connected to the output of even a modest stereo receiver).
If they are passive--this being the only type that you'd want to connect with any sort of real hope of anything moderately enjoyable coming from them--then you'll want to get an audio only RCA-to-RCA Interconnect Cable. Since it looks like you're going for the inexpensive solution here, go to the Dollar Store to get them.
Once you have them, cut the wire in half (scissors achieve this to miraculous effect). Grab either half you like and strip the wires down about half an inch. Inside of the insulation of one side, you'll find two wires--one showing it's metallic innerworkings and the other insulated. This will be replicated on the other side.
These are for the left and right speaker. The one that is red is for the right side. Be sure not to let the wires touch--not even a strand--when you strip the inner insulated wire... That wire will be the negative (or black) connection on the receiver.
Repeat with the other side and connect the RCA ends to the speakers (red for right)...
This should work...
Now...
I don't believe that this is worth your time or effort, but this is how I've done it when connecting small speakers with RCA cables to inferior sound systems. Once I had my first floorstanding speakers with twelve-inch woofers, all of that madness stopped.
But I haven't forgotten how...

M-Audio Fast Track Pro with Sonar vs Focusrite Saffire with Cubase LE?
I am a young musician in a band called 41 Marquis (www.myspace.com/41marquis www.purevolume.com/41marquis www.famecast.com/41marquis) looking to do some recording. I just got a computer built with 4 gbs of ram and a intel quad core processor. I also own a Peavey 16 Channel Mixer (non-usb). I have the chance to get the M-Audio Fast Track Pro Usb Interface to line my mixer through and also get Sonar Home Studio 7 Xl (worth approximately $350 together) or get the Focusrite Saffire Firewire Interface that includes Cubase Le with it for about $450. Which would be better to do? Is Cubase Le a relatively good program? Were are mainly just looking to produce some good sounding demo songs to post on our myspace.
Hi!!!! Dude I am an Old Rocker from Beyond the Jurassic .I started playing in the 60's .. I still play. I recorded and performed at arena type concerts and in small night clubs. I recorded in big money Studios and I have my own Recording Studio. I have a Quad Core and I am using Firewire . Actually The Interface is what Makes or breaks You . You need to get that Interfaces Model # and manufacturer and look it up as to how it compares to all the others . That will tell the tale .When you do that. You will find out a horde of Info about Recording you maybe didnt know existed. When you go to digital . Firewire is the fastest and the better clarity in the End . Cubase works very well. If you can get a deal on it man I would say do it. Although I don't know the prices right now. Ther is something faster but you and I cant afford that! It is in its beginning stages anyway.It is what they use for the Big stuff.
Hey!! Dude a few Tips for you. For Recording. Get some books and learn how to tune the drums. Yeah!! Tune the drums Dude!! I am not pulling your leg . That is One of the biggest Mistakes every Band under the Sun Makes from Clubbing to Concerts and in the Studio.When your DRums are Tuned .. Unwanted Frequencies are Eliminated. Your Sound becomes Clean . Those Frequencies are Noise! Then ,, tune all your Guitars by Strobe get them all setup by a Luthier.You will play faster and better and your Music will be Correct all up and down the Neck.Third .. Kill the Echoes . Stop all Sound Reflection possible in the Area you are Recording In. And last,,,, A 16 X 16 Room I believe it is ,, But look it up,,,,, Is Best for Recording a Small Rock Group .. Rock out and On.... I hope to hear your Stuff
